The 68 members' delegation including Senators, members of national and provincial assemblies, officers of Pakistan Army, ambassadors, bureaucrats and representatives of civil society besides Special Assistants to CM Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Zakia Shahnawaz besides Chairman P&D Javed Aslam Secretaries of Energy, Health, Agriculture, Finance and Education departments and other concerned officers were present.
Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa maintained that the Punjab government under the leadership of Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has completed public welfare development projects in the minimum time in a transparent manner through good governance and set up a high standard of public service.
Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa told the delegation that the Punjab government is plying air-conditioned buses for provision of modern and quality transport facilities to the masses and has started international standard Metro Bus System Project in the provincial metropolis which is at the final stages of its completion. He said that this project would be completed from Gajumta to Shahdara at a cost Rs 29.8 billion.
He said that indoor and outdoor patients are being provided free of cost medicines while the government has also set up five medical colleges in a short period of four and a half years besides approval has also been granted for construction of Thal Medical College in Bhakkar. Similarly, institutes of cardiology have been set up in Rawalpindi and Wazirabad while 450-bed hospital in Bahawalpur and a 200-bed hospital in Shahdara have also been set up, he added.
Senior Advisor stated that comprehensive steps have been taken for promotion of education which includes setting up of Daanish schools, Endowment Fund with an amount of Rs 10 billion, distribution of laptops to talented students and sending position holder students on study tour to renowned universities in Europe. He further told the delegation that for promotion of information technology, an IT university at Arfa Kareem IT Tower has been set up. Similarly, IT labs have also been set up in 4,286 high schools at a cost of Rs 5 billion. He said that land record has been computerised which will rid the masses of blackmailing of patwaris. He said that low cost housing scheme, Aashiyana, has been started for provision of homes to poor people.
